Xanga ADD.
Does anyone else have difficulty finishing entries? So many unfinished entries...untold stories.. I'll start typing away about a random thought or funny event...but halfway through, my energy fizzles and I sign out thinking "next time..". As a result, I have partially written entries about my hyper-masculine husband who keeps a ninja sword near our bed, how I could never become an actress in Korea bc my face is larger than a cd, my road-rage with a skateboarder, and my OCD traits when it comes to manicures and car washes.
Maybe one day....
In the meantime, I guess I'll finish posting the rest of my honeymoon pictures. Oh yeah, remember those?
While Mykonos was, hands down, our favorite, Santorini was a very close second.
Approaching Santorini by sea...
This dramatic hillside village of Oia is one of the most photographed in the world.
Famous for their blue-domed chapels..

Lunch was breathtaking... as we munched on greek salad (a must!) and assorted seafood, we marveled at the pristine white-ness and the meticulous upkeep of the blue-dome chapel.
Tell me this isn't one of the most beautiful little cafes ever:

Note: If you ever go to Santorini, you will most likely be taken to Fira, the capital. Skip the touristed-to-death city and take a bus to Oia. All the above pics were taken there.
Shall we move on to Egypt?
Oh my, the stories we have of this crazy country! We visited Alexandria and Cairo and not more than a couple of hours would go by without another hilarious tale to bring back home.. When researching this country, we were cautioned about traveling alone. Especially when it came to traveling to and fro Alexandria and Cairo (a few hours distance). But hey, whats the point of living...if you don't live?? lol... D and I never even entertained the thought of hooking up with a group. We were gonna do it alone, just the two of us. And boy, are we glad we did! There was never a relaxed moment as we hilariously navigated the convoluted transportation system and somewhat-unfriendly country.. We have some fabulous stories.. but anyways, on with the pictures!
I guess I'll start with the pyramids.. Here they are:

They were massive and quite impressive...but we couldn't help wondering how many dead slave bodies were pressed in between those humongous blocks..
Just to give you an idea of the enormity... one block is taller than D - who is 5'11.
I didn't even bother climbing the pyramids. It was freaking hot enough - especially wearing a long sleeve shirt out of respect to the locals..
Camels. I got as close as I could... here I am nervously giggling..
I was scared it would reach out and spit or bite me.. but it didn't. whew.
This poser invited himself to my photo-op. I willingly complied - hey, a photo with a local! But then, he tried to get me to pay him FIVE US DOLLARS! W.T.F.?? Needless to say, I gave him but a fraction of that amount and he hrmphed unhappily back to his peoples. whatever!!!
The Sphinx is quite UNimpressive... all these crows/birds on its face. Looks kinda gross.
We visited the Papyrus Institute. Man making paper out of papyrus. Quite interesting.

We visited some more ancient remains.. like Pompei's Pillar
But as I mentioned in an earlier post, visiting such places start getting old... so what's a bored girl to do??
Do the Paris Hilton!
I forget the significance of this bathtub... but hey, another photo-op! Dont I look like I'm really in the tub? hahaha..that is how good I am. oh yeah, baby.
Museums also get old after a while... so I did what I do. My dear husband, he quietly suffered through the questioning glances and obliged with the photo requests.

Alexandria, Egypt was VERY interesting... While most of Cairo and Alexandria is quite poor, dirty, and chaotic (we saw sheep being slaughtered right on a main street!), the coast of Alexandria feels more Mediteranean than Middle Eastern. Water so clear you can see your toes in thigh-high waters! You almost forget you're in Egypt as you walk by hotel after hotel - mostly of the four/five star kind. Whats interesting about this place was that, the choicest parts of the beach are owned by these high-end hotels - making it only accessible to their guests! No residents (egyptians) allowed! They need to travel farther out to gain access. Interesting study in gentrification... Local egyptians not allowed access to the best parts of their own city. That would be like D and I being denied access to Santa Monica or Malibu beach! Un believable..

Near this elite area was the King's palace.
It was gorgeous. Prime real estate, I tell ya. Here we are in front of the palace with our CRAZY taxi driver. He spit constantly, alternated between cussing profusely and singing gleefully, honked his horn incessantly, and smoked out in between stops. He tried ripping us off at the end but D and I were just glad to have survived.
And thats it for Egypt!
We visited about 5 more Greek islands..none of them as wonderful as Mykonos or Santorini. Maybe I'll post a few pictures at a later time. When I get around to posting again. lol..
Until next time, darlings...

They're Baaaaaaack

In junior high, my little girlfriends and I used to run home everyday from the bus stop so we could sing and dance to their concert video for a few hours until their parents came home. We did this every. single. day. If I tried, I could probably still remember most of the words to their songs. And maybe even some dance moves. ha
I was SOO in love with Donnie. I was insanely jealous of that little girl he pulled onto stage in the concert video and sang "Cover Girl" to. It broke my little heart when my parents refused to let me go to a "devil worshipper rock concert".
Well, I'm older now. And I am SO THERE. Who's with me?

Mykonos Part Deux - Delos Island
We took some time out and took a boat over to Delos Island to sightsee some ruins. See the boat:
Okay, honestly, as much as D and I love The History Channel, visiting ruins got old pretty quick.. The ones in Ephesus, Turkey were pretty great but honestly, how many of these can you ooh and ahh over?
So we decided to just have fun.
D loved the movie 300. (How surprising huh?
) So of course, whenever we saw a ditch, we had to re-enact "THIS IS SPAAAARTAAA!!" and pretend to kick someone to their deaths.
Take One. I didn't think D quite captured the ferocity of the Spartans.
Of course, I think I did better. haha
But D disagreed, arguing that I was kicking too off to the side.
Apparently, I'm supposed to kick straight in front of me. Like this:
Yeah, whatever. Anyways, we did this here and there... but D was never quite satisfied bc we were kicking in to ditches, not wells.
Well.... we kept walking... and what do we see??
A REAL WELL.
So D got back into character... Behold the Mighty Spartan (wannabe).
Me? I was over the kicking. Instead, I pretended to draw water...yes, I know I look so convincing.
We continued taking classy photos. Like this:
And this:
And the classiest of them all:

Delos Island - not very exciting. Next time, I will show you Santorini. Be prepared for loveliness.

Just wanted to show you one more wedding dress pic before moving on..... to...
THE GREEK ISLANDS.
*Warning: Massive picture overload*
No need to say much, the pictures speak for themselves. We visited around 6 different islands but hands down, our favorites were Mykonos and Santorini. If you ever go to Greece, you must, I repeat, YOU MUST go to these two islands.
Let's start with me and my hubby's favorite:
Mykonos
How charming is that chapel? That is a real church! It is actually quite breathtaking in person... even with D's new fancy schamncy camera we couldn't fully capture its beauty... There are small chapels like this everywhere on the island. every single one just as pretty...
I don't know the name of those red flowers...but they were everywhere! Check out this pic:
How pretty is this!!
In the pic above, I'm standing in an alleyway. In LA, alleyways are playgrounds for criminal activities. In Mykonos, alleyways are places where the everyday mundane (such as laundry) provides incredible backdrops for photo opps. Such as this:
When did hanging laundry become so charming? I stood in that alleyway for a little while... There were sheets and clothes billowing above me giving off a wonderful clean soapy scent. Made me want to spread my arms out and whirl around. hehe.. Anyways, it was beyond charming. sigh. Note the beautiful ground in the last two pics.
For a good 10 hours, D and I just wandered the island. No map, no directions, we wanted to get lost. We just couldn't get over how pretty is was! We just walked through the residential neighborhoods...and took a million pictures.

I sooooo badly wanted to go inside someone's house. I wanted to see what it was like inside! I imagined the homes to be relatively small with old rustic charm.. There was this house with the door slightly ajar. I managed to peek in and see a wooden table but not much else.
so sad. But that house also had those gorgeous flowers..so I settled for a picture.
We ventured out of the main area and started hiking up the island.. and on the way up, we spotted another church.
Only in Myknons can even a cemetary be so charming..
We walked past some kids and realized we were passing a school that had some kind of ampitheater next to it.
That red dot is my hubby.
Can you imagine living and going to school in a place like this?? Those kids must have the most pleasant disposition...
Some additional views while hiking up..

Now, the jewel of our hike...our best discovery yet.. off the beaten path with hardly anyone around.
We found another chapel!

It was something out of a storybook. Overlooking the Mediterranean.
LA should have ribbons around their lampposts.

Too much prettiness. Time for a pose!
I'm the Queen of the, uh, .....BICEPS!
Even the back of the chapel provided a nice backdrop for a photo.
Are you exhausted yet? Hang in there... still got some more of Mykonos to see.
We continued on with our hiking adventure... we saw abandoned boats..
We saw windmills...

And some more of seaside Mykonos..

Started our descent back to town..

Mykonos has a Little Venice. We had been gorging on gyros and veggies all day...so we decided to indulge in some pasta - though skeptical of pasta in Greece. Boy were we wrong!
We stopped by what seemed to be a very popular restaurant. Weren't expecting much but we liked the seaside seating.
Started off with this very simple looking greek salad and bread. But trust me, there was nothing "simple" about the taste. I'm not a veggie person but these veggies were actually sweet. We fell in love with greek salads that day. We had it every day in Greece.
We got our pasta special... sooo delicious. The pasta is handmade right there, and all the seafood brought in that very day. The best seafood pasta ever. In Greece! Who knew?
We weren't expecting that large amount of food and were sure we would have leftovers. HA. yeah right! Here I am reflecting on our pigginess.
If ever in Mykonos and craving some good ole homemade pasta, you must pay VENEZIA a visit.
Big mama will help you out.
Now, remember how I fell in love with Turkish coffee? Forget about that. I discovered THE GREEK FRAPPE.
During the summer, you will see every other Greek person walking around drinking this. We kept wondering, what is that, what is that? Finally someone told us.
Greek frappé (Café frappé) is a foam-covered iced coffee drink made from spray-dried instant coffee.
I had several a day. SO delish. I have yet to find one in LA.
But whatever you do, never ever order a Greek Coffee, the original kind. It is pure mud. Unfiltered dark roast coffee with grinds in it! I made the mistake of ordering it once.
This is not a dramatization. We were photo-documenting all our wonderful coffee discoveries...and this was my actual reaction to my first sip. As a result, I had to order another Frappe TO THE RESCUE!
Okay, I'm tired. This is a long entry. We're not quite done with Mykonos...we took a boat out to visit some ruins..but that will have to wait for another day. Hope you enjoyed the pictures as much as I have!
Till next time. Ciao~

The Hunniemoon
My husband was minimally interested in details of our wedding (except for the budget), was minimally involved in the planning process (except for writing checks), and would have probably been just as happy (or even happier!) to hop a flight over to vegas for a hassle-free ceremony. I have to admit the thought was quite appealing at times - although the predictable wrath of our families (especially mine) quickly nipped any plans to act on such impulses. But the one thing D was completely involved in - honeymoon planning.
Early on we knew we didn't want to just lounge on a beach for two weeks. We wanted an adventure, we wanted to be up and about exploring new places. So, after months of poring over magazines, websites and books...after countless hours of discussing the pros and cons of every continent, every major city in the world... we settled on Turkey, Greece, and Egypt. Neither of us had been to that part of the world before.
What can I say... the trip was simply amazing. Each city we went to was so unique and provided us with such excitement! From the greek islands that blew us away with their natural beauty...to the chaotic streets of Cairo where sheep were slaughtered before our very eyes...to the scammers chasing us down the streets in Turkey... there was not a moment of boredom. It was the kind of trip that kept all five senses at full attention, at all times.
But enough talking... lets get to some pictures!
Istanbul, Turkey
Talk about attack of the senses! The sights, sounds, and smells of the city provided our jet-lagging bodies the much needed jolt to start day one of our tour.
The famous bazaars of turkey. What a sight they were!

We started the day with some breakfast. We ordered what the locals were eating:

We still don't know what everything was but it sure was delish! The chunky honey was quite yummy..never had it like that before. That morning, I realized I LOVED turkish coffee. I had several that day, including at lunch.
The kabobs and rice and all were good...but my favorite part of the meal was the coffee.
In Istanbul, there are mosques everywhere you turn.

Outside of the mosques, you see people doing this:
Everyone washes their feet before entering the mosques. These were the non-tourist ones that we weren't allowed to enter.
If you know me at all, you know where this is headed... (rapidly approaching major cultural faux pas)...

Yes, I had to. I just really really had to.. I know. It was HORRIBLE of me! D was totally cringing but quickly obliged bc he knew I would not leave till I got a shot. I wish to use this time to apologize to the conservative people of Turkey and Allah. They must have been horrified. I promise I will never do that again. Ever.
Okay, lets move on the Ephesus, Turkey. Pretty self-explanatory. Pretty amazing.
Yes, I really had to do that. No day is complete till some funky poses are struck. Funkier poses are yet to come. I'm sure you're looking forward to it.
Anyways, I think that's enough for today. Next time I will overload you with pictures of some Greek islands. They beauty will blow you away. I guarantee it.
Ciao, darlings..

I'm back.
Actually, I was never technically gone.. I logged in regularly to read updates on my favorite xangans and made several (futile) attempts at updates. But I failed to scrape together enough energy to actually finish a post I had started or overcome my laziness enough to post a few pictures.
I'm actually not sure if I'll end up finishing this entry. But I think I will. I switched up the look a bit and even cleared out some old entries. I think thats a sign that I am ready to start posting again. If anyone is still interested.
Let's see... maybe I should start out by posting some wedding pics I had been promising to post. Yes, the wedding that happened last year and is now rapidly approaching its one year anniversary. Yowza. Where does the time go?
For all the hate I felt towards wedding planning, I think I mentioned that the actual event was awesome. I danced so much that my feet literally felt broken afterwards. I couldn't walk properly the next day. But it was all definitely worth it!
It was meant to be an awesome day. The whole day was fun - starting in the morning at the bridal salon where my bridesmaids and I got ready. It was a big wedding day at the salon and the place was overflowing with brides and their parties. However, my bridemaids managed to take over an entire section in the corner and we made our camp there - complete with kimbap, drinks, fruits, and other yummy snacks. I could see other parties hungrily eyeing our spread as they walked by trying to find a place to sit.
Here I am stuffing my face, as always. Such lovely pre-ceremony behavior:

And here we are acting...the way we always do. My more demure BM declined to partake in such foolishness and played photographer instead.

I'm not sure why these pics are coming out distorted...
Anyways, we managed to pull it together, just enough to make it to the church...where just plain ole silliness ensused.

Notice S's yoga arms. She's so buff its intimidating.
Okay, now onto the ceremony.
D waiting patiently..

Pops giving me away.."take her off my hands!"

Ceremony shots...

Don't slip..!
Its done! We're married!

Now that that's taken care of...let the partying begin, whoo hoo!!

My faithful bridesmaids..making sure my dress stayed intact during the craziness.. I
them!

Male lovin. These are my church boys, btw.

Phil, MC Extraordinaire.. doin the..caterpillar?
And here is my cute hubby... bustin some moves..haha
I'm sure my dad cringed during this...
Cheers!

These were all from friends' cameras. I wish I could show you some professional pics but they are just waay too large to upload. so sad. We have some great pics..
Okay. I think thats enough of wedding day pics. Should we switch gears and show you some incredibly fobby studio photos?
Tell me this isn't the fobbiest bride photo. hahaha...

Oh gyeah, baby.

Is this enough drama for you? Channeling Danielle Steele...

Doesnt this remind you of VC Andrews? haha..
Gotta love fobbiness.
Oh wait, I can't omit our casual photos! Fobbiness continued..
*oh, never mind. Xanga is saying those pics are also too large to upload.
Well, this is enough for tonight. I'm actually getting a headache..my left temple is throbbing. And anyways, the hubs is home; time for some quality time.
Next time, I'll have some honeymoon pics for you.
Stay tuned... ciao.

I guess its about time..The Wedding DiariesThat dreadful wedding planning process actually turned out to be worth it.
It was the funnest (yes, funnest) wedding party ever and I had a blast.
Can you tell?
HaHAahHAhaha... gotta love freaky grad school friends, lol...
But speaking of freaky... I think maybe I should revisit Vegas. I never did get around to posting pictures from that delicious weekend with the gals... keke..
* * *
It all started with the following suspects (missing a few):
We were supposed to just chill the first night.. relax from the drive/flight out from LA. Everything/one looks innocent enough...yes? Well, it didn't stay that way for long...The arms started coming up... (I think S was channeling Michael Jackson's Thriller)
Tongues started sticking out...
And of course, impromptu karaoke.... but who is that boy on the right???
haha..
Anyways, the second night was no less exciting.
The pic is fuzzy and dark...but look closely and everyone has a tattoo..either on the arm, boob, or back.
Yes, my bridesmaids made everyone wear a feather boa. So trashy but LOVED it, hahahaha....
Close up with 2 of my BM. Can you see the ghettofabulous tattoos?

Hit the clubs and... well, you know how we do!

Oh yes... that would be me...having climbed up on....something.
But inevitably, old age caught up with us...
Here we are slowly dropping like flies..one by one...
And my favorite pic of the night:
Apparently, I now squint when intoxicated. Since when did Tequila start affecting eyesight? Go figure.
Anyways, this is the extent of post-able pics. Whatever happens in Vegas....never happened if pics were erased and all incriminating evidence destroyed, muahahaha.... maybe one day I will do a protected post with the super duper top-secret photos. kekeke...
For a group of old(er) ahjumas who rarely party anymore, we did a pretty fine job of livening up our area of the club...and scoring free bottles of alcohol from managers!
And then came the wedding... but boy am I pooped right now! Is it already 10pm? Dang, its my bedtime! Yes, boys and girls, this old lady needs her sleep these days! hahaha..
The wedding and honeymoon pics are gonna have to wait a few more days...
Until next time, darlings.

3 More Days....
I'm not quite there yet...but there is definitely potential.
There is a very strange calm over me right now... Its best if everyone stays away and lets me be as I trudge through with last details. Who says brides feel a little empty after the excitement and frenzy of the wedding? NOT ME. I am SO OVER IT. I was over it 5 months ago. You will NOT see a post-wedding blog with reviews of vendors, how-I-did-it instructions, or any details of this whole dreadful planning process.
I'm ready to move on with my life.
Once I'm done posting pics, no more wedding talk. And don't ask me anything either. I don't have answers.
I'm feeling snarky.
